How we handle data
Last updated August 23, 2026
Overview
Idle Viewing is an ambient-scene website. We do not require an account and we do not intentionally collect your name, email address, or other directly identifying information through the site.
Google Analytics
If you choose “Accept analytics,” we use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits and improve the site. It may process pages viewed, interactions, referring pages, approximate location, browser and device information, and pseudonymous cookie identifiers. Analytics remains off until you accept.
Google LLC processes this information on our behalf under its applicable terms. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Google Fonts
The site requests the Inter and Share Tech Mono typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser makes that request, Google may receive technical information such as your IP address and browser details. This request is separate from Google Analytics and occurs whether or not you accept analytics. See the Google Privacy Policy for more information.
Cookies and local storage
| Name | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
| idle-viewing-analytics-consent | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics. | Until browser storage is cleared |
| _ga | Distinguishes pseudonymous visitors after consent. | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_7LBYG45KWV | Maintains Google Analytics session state after consent. | Up to 2 years |
Purpose, legal basis, and retention
We use analytics to understand site performance and improve the experience. Where consent is the applicable legal basis, we process analytics data only with your consent. Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings configured for our Analytics property; aggregate reports may be kept longer because they do not directly identify individual visitors.
Your choices and rights
You can accept or reject analytics and change your decision at any time through “Cookie settings” in the footer. Turning analytics off removes accessible Google Analytics cookies and reloads the page without Analytics. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to a privacy regulator.
Children
Idle Viewing is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the site.
Changes and contact
We may update this notice when the site or our practices change. Before publishing this starter notice, the site operator should add its legal name, country, and a monitored privacy contact address here.
